Day 37 (Tues)
the weather is picking up...one of the hottest day since i arrived here in US...this is what i call summer man...singlet, shades and sun block...not long-sleeved and jackets and cuddling in the cold holding my bright red rescue tube...damade got audited again!!! wah lau i seriously tink the management is doubting my lifesaving abilities and boy did i prove them right...a severe bloody cockeye screwup...wah my lowest point in my short career as lifeguard so far...
this time rd...the over-shrewd and nothing better to do supervisors put a child mannequin in my zone and i failed to spot it at all!! wah lau everyone that got audited at least saw that and jumped in to simulate rescue...even though most or in fact all of them failed becoz they were too slow in their timing...and me i didn't even see it at all...needless to say i did'nt even jump into the water...and erin the supervisor actually came over and suan me in a rather sacarstic way
"Leon...Good scanning......but......did u realise there is a child mannequin over there?"
wah this statement really make my heart shoot up to the heavens andden sink to the hells...how could i have possibly miss the child mannequin when i was really putting effort into scanning (knowing jolly well that erin was watching me frm the back frm the corner of my eye)...i am like the worst among all those who have been audited...even though none of us passed in the end...at least they saw the mannequin and jumped into the pool...i did'nt even realise the mannequin was there man and they told me dun bother to jump...jialat wad if they tell Denise aka CO abt this...wah lau really damn malu...super paiseh...sighz...i muz really tell myself to really scan all the time...it is hard u see especially with the sun, beach and errhhmm bikini-clad babes ard...often find my mind drifting into imagination (i know wad ya tinking...not in an erotic way pls) and i really gotta tell myself to stop tinking it is juz a summer and holiday job...in the words of George aka S4...there is no other summer job which will result possibly in death if one dun put in 100% effort...keep scanning Leon!!
all lifeguards which is abt 100 of us went for mass ride training at ocean oasis aft raging waters was closed for the evening...before that was a pizza party...the managment ordered a few dozens boxes of pizza for all the lifeguards before we all set off for surfside pier a 15min walk across the beach...when we reached there CO announced the news which all lifeguards want to hear most...
"Ok Guys...due to the weather turning cold and the rides not filled up yet...we will not hit the water today"
wah lau though the day was rather hot and burnt...when the sun starts to set the chill is on again...i guess this will be the case for the rest of the summer...literally let out a sigh of relief upon hearing that...Ocean oasis seems much newer and laidback than raging waters...alcohol is allowed in the waterpark too and defitnitely more thrilling rides than raging waters like the riptide ride and balls-dropping cliff dive - a steep 15degree incline frm 125ft up...wah lau this one really killer...i seriously wonder whether any cases of riders flying out but the supervisors assured us it's absolutely safe...
the whole ride training lasted for 3 hours...and aft the training tried out great nor'easter at surfside and boy it was such an exhilarating ride to the core...twice as much fun than sea serpent and thrice as much excitement...the whole ride can simply be described as heart pounding from start to finish...defitnitely will try again...by the time we all got back it was already 9.30 pm and juz that ounce of energy left for some kickabout...changed into PT kit and me, JK, ken and Naf set off to the field opp the convention center where the columbians and ecuadorians are playing...this time we mixed ard and my team lost 7-5...simply a bad day fail terribly in audit and now play soccer also get thrased...sighzz...a better tml hopefully....hiaaayaaah...
