Day 28 (Sun)

Last day of lifeguard duty before the 2nd phase of lifeguard training kicks in tml...slowly getting used to the system here at raging waters, the pattern of the managers and supervisors, and of coz the scope and nature of work...my impression abt the job before i came has also changed 180degrees...tot it is juz some slack, can act seh, watch bikini babes and get a nice good tan kindda of job...but the past one wk of work has made me realised it is more than that...young lives are in my hands...and if anything were to happen i am bound to feel guilty for the rest of my life...like how the managers and supervisors always say...safety first!! indeed my mindset has now changed drastically...i muz say i totally enjoyed my work as lifeguard the past one wk and looking fwd to more aft this wk of training...though der r still complaints abt the erratic weather and the long standing hours...but defitnitely a more exciting and meaningful job than sea dragon operator...

went to ML to work at night...was told by nichole that we can come as and when we are not tired anyday frm now on...that's as good as saying we lifeguards are redundant and no longer needed on the pier...but we should have been prepared for this from the start anyway...our jobs are lifeguards from the start and ride operator was juz to cope until the waterpark begins operations...the gang is deciding whether to juz tell the pier pple that we are quiting the ride operator job totally and get a 2nd job outside...like a waiter, handyman at the local motels which are all busy preparing for the summer season...pay confirm higher and a change of environment might do some good...i mean com'on...the pay aft taxes is even lower than MacDonalds and in s'pore if ur pay lesser than Macs u r condemned...now we all feel seriously quite difficult to break even liao...nobody told us the federal taxes will be so high in the 1st place...i mean damade...over 70 dollars taken from my pay for the federal taxes and i am not even a full-time citizen here...why take my money supply their army to fight some meaningless war in Iraq?!?? wadda hell...and nobody told us that our bonus was capped at USD350 only and nobody told us the cost of living will be so damn high here...haiz...

i mean no choice lah...come here already den at least make the most out of it...no longer longer care so much as to break even now...at the end of the day i juz tell myself my aim is to gain some experience here and make more good friens...things that $$ can never buy...
