Leon's Boulevard of Unspoken Dreams

A 4th Year NUS Civil Engineering (Offshore) student...with the plainest clues to life's most important questions...so to make life seem much simpler and happier than it actually is...chose to satirise and mock his already complicated and complex 24 years of life history in this blog journal...on the quest to seek the real truth...on the journey to chase his endless dreams...and on the voyage to find out his eternal destiny...ahhhh nothing but crap again...

Day 72 (Tues)

had in-service this morning...my last in-service to be exact...this time the in-service was slightly diff from the past few sessions...there was the usual routine weekly announcements but instead of playing some team-building games or refreshing our active and CPR skills...this time we had to learn and practise a new skill - extracation of spinal victim...i was tasked to be victim and therefore had to lie down on the stretcher...how apt when i juz laid down on one 3 days back going through a life and death and experience...midway Denise aka CO came over and talked to us about the accident...the 1st time she approached us since we came back... the summer heat is really turning on...and people are flocking to the beaches and the waterparks not forgetting...went up to the Sky Ponds twice...Pond A and D...i am sure now everyone is begging to get send up to the ponds...can chill in the water to escape the scorching summer heat...and what's more the opportunity to get up close and personal with some really hot bikini babes...haha... bikinis aside...have been having after thoughts for the past few days since the accident and decided to pen it down in words or rather keys...

Life & Death

ever since what happened on Saturday and witnessing what happen to the car 1st hand...i really wonder how all of us managed to escape relatively unscathed...especially me who sat at the most unwanted and hottest seat when the accident occured and the bloody air bags did not even come out after all the impacts...friek u Ford Impala...i wanna sue all of u and get a million or 2 in compensation for my mental traumatisation...budden again on a serious note...i have been questioning more on the issue of life, death and religion for the past few days...who chooses whether u live or die?? how did all of us manage to walk out of this safely? i am a self-confessed free thinker...even after 10 years in a Christian missionary school and coming from a family with Buddhist orientation...i have never really been influenced towards both religions though i muz admit i was somewhat very influenced by Ms Teong, my Pr.6 teacher back in ACJS...when i used to pray almost everyday before i go to bed...it juz somehow stopped after going to Cat High, a predominantly Catholic School diff from AC with strong methodist roots...Yes I believe there is a God and I believe all religions leads to one God...but i have never really explored the spiritual aspect of my life over the years...an aspect i seriously have neglected...this accident has really made me more curious about all these affairs again which i always happily shelved one side when friens started talking to me about religious issues...i guess it is prob time to fufill the spiritual part of me which have been lacking and time to avoid the issue jolly well knowing nobody can be said to be free in this world...

Family

my family means a great deal to me and after the accident i only came to realise the extent of how much they actually mean to me...at the point when i am not even sure of my chance of survival...all i can think of is them...each and every one of them...Pa, Mummy, Hong and Ying...they were my source of motivation and will to keep my eyes open no matter how difficult it was to do that after suffering a blow to my head...i really learn to love, cherish and appreciate each one of them more after coming so close to death for the 1st time in my life...i juz miss them now as i am typing this...

Friends

the positive thing about the entire episode is that the accident had really brought all those onboard closer...after going through the whole trauma together really makes our friendship stronger...though i know the taiwanese gals for only a day before the travel...this type of experience has really bonded all of us...the meaning of true friens is seriously manifested in this whole episode and coming back to Magnolia to see so many concerned faces only make one realise how lucky he or she is to be surrounded by so many friens whom they barely known for a month or 2...friendships that will last a lifetime...of coz have received some encouraging emails and msns from friens in s'pore too...thks guys for all ur concern...i am perfectly ok now :)

Driving Overseas

driving overseas can be a double-edged sword...for one you can experience the joy of speeding down country, winding or cliff roads that u will never get a chance back in tiny s'pore...the experience of freedom, liberation and exhilaration all in one...for two driving overseas can be extremely dangerous since u do not know the road conditions and directions well...so my advice to friens who are considering driving in the future is...plan before u set off for any destination, don't get a fark-up driver or at least someone who knows the basics of safety and one zai navigator...or best juz spend more money to sit on coaches, buses or even domestic planes...no amount of money should measure up to your safety...in fact our initial plan to drive from Las Vegas to San Francisco is scrapped...either we will be taking Greyhound or we will be juz giving it a miss totally...

Personal Reflection

Naf tinks that i have changed since the accident...that i am no longer jovial and joker like before...but i mean i juz escaped death and i can't be immediately back to the same right...but i have really learned a lot about the whole accident...this whole episode juz in the words of ken humbles oneself...life can be so fragile though it sounds over-cliched but it is certainly true...u really dunno what is going to happen the next day...i have learn to cherish my life even more knowing well someone prob really likes my face up there...i am juz thankful that i am still alive and kicking for one...and everyone else is safe and sound if not i will certainly feel guilt for the rest of my life...i tink i have come out of this a stronger and more mature individual...a whole new life learning experience of a completely new dimension...treasure ur life more guys and simply live ur life to the fullest...haha...sound cliched again but this is seriously how i feel...
