had a somewhat long day yesterday...considering tuesdays are "unofficially" one of my shortest days in school (if i skip transport tutorial and no ps tutorial that is and excluding my off days on monday...heh)
the day began early at 9am with my 1st lab class of the semester...Transport Lab 1...turns out to be one of the most shiok if not best lab session i ever had for the past 2 years in NUS...carefree and slack...all you have to do is to literally fry asphalt (a kind of road mixture) in a wok and pound the soil mixture using some kind of sledge hammer...it's as though like a cooking class lah...pounding chilli and frying the wok...haha...best lab report on the spot do then hand up...no worries about the report once u step out of the lab...this is the kind of labs that i like man...
after the lab we went for lunch at techno edge and had indonesian BBQ for lunch...ooohh the best stall that the pathetic engin canteen has to offer...in fact i would conisder it to be engin canteen's answer to jap food at arts...wah really very long never eat liao...i tink they add a different kind of gravy this sem...the whole chicken taste saucier but i do wanna say the size of the chicken seems to have shrunk sia...i thought chickens nowadays are like getting fatter and juicier thanks in no doubt to those genetically modified organisms...perhaps i have been deluded in my 3 months of stay in US...everything is to the power of 2 in US compared to singapore...the chickens, the beef, the pizza, the beer, the cars and of coz not forgetting those big fat ang mohs...
after school genie, ken and me went to west coast recreation center for a few games of "number ball"...haha still remem it was YJ who taught us how to play this game man...and now that bugger in sweden...our group seems to have lost a "voice" these days...haha of coz he's the loudest and most spontaneous one ard...every clique always need someone like him...and now it juz is different when he not around lah...betta come back in one piece if u reading this! heh
ken and me were invited to genie's church at queenstown for an evangelistic service last nite...the service was delivered in a solemn manner...there was a testimony by one of the brother of the church and followed by the message delivered by the elder of the church...in between there was singing of hymns...the service was very unlike the ones which i have attended at a church in marine parade some years back...i remembered people were singing and cheering out loud christian songs in a somewhat very "hyper" and "over enthusiastic" manner...and there were people clapping and dancing non-stop during the whole service...being a first timer at the church i was asked to go to the front of the stage and people were cheering as i walked to the front...as though like a "rock concert"...i was a bit taken aback and felt uneasy when i first went for the service after being invited by my ex-tuition teacher...because the whole setting was so unlike how i perceive a church service should be conducted...at least that's my impression of services after spending 10 years in missionary schools...i stopped attending the church after a month...
i couldn't agree more with the message delivered by the elder tonight...life is indeed fragile...and you never know what's going to happen the next day...and i am sure many people since the beginning of time have been asking where will they go after they die...it is a question where kids at the age of 3 or 4 will start to hanker their parents apart from the usual questions of the birds and the bees...it is also a question which some people have chose to avoid until almost the brink of their deaths...i muz admit i am one of those who have been avoiding that question...
lately me and genie have also been engaging in some regular religious discussion ...we exchanged our views on Christianity, Catholicism, Judasim, Buddhism and so on...and he has passed me a few gospels and some books to read...i particularly enjoy reading "Ultimate Questions" by John Blanchard...as it really answers some of the questions that i have in mind for years...on the other hand it has also raised some questions on my part...
some of the questions were burning in me when i got back home after the service...
What if people were even deprived the chance to hear the Gospel? Like when they died at a young age or when they died in their mothers’ womb? Or even those who are born into other religions?
To what degree is sin considered to be sin? Like when u knowingly know it is a sin…u still do it but later repent and ask for forgiveness from God? Would you still be forgiven?
What about people who have done good in their lives but has not come to know of Christ? What will happen to them when they die?
When will you know you will be worthy to accept The Lord?
