Day 91 (Sunday) *Taipei Day 2*
2nd Day in Taipei! Slept quite well last nite despite the pathetically thin mattress...cannot complain much liao...got air con, warm water to bathe and most importantly good wireless access...which is what we need most at the moment aft the internet drought in LA...somemore this week gotta bid for modules...what!?!! this week gotta bid for modules?!!? wah kaoz...sch is starting nxt week liao...tell me how fast can that be man...sch is starting nxt week!?!! issn't the song by Green Day suppose to go like this..."summer has come and pass...wake me up when September ends..." heck care lah...think go back s'pore den come and settle...juz relish this Taipei moment for now...yeeeeeah!!!
plan for today is to go Wu Feng Pu after lunch...no idea where is it...but according to Kerrine...it's a shopper haven with clothes going for wholesale prices...sounds like a good deal...left our hostel ard noon and tried out our 1st Taipei steamboat for lunch at a sortta high class steamboat restaurant juz downstairs...paid like almost 20 sing bucks each and u getta order all you can...in taiwanese terms...199 chi dao bao...hiak hiak...this is exactly wad we need aft almost 2 months of poor and unwholesome junk food man!!
anyway tink we seriously made a fool of ourselves at the restautant...told the waitress to give us one of every meat on the menu with absolutely no idea how much it's gonna be...turns out that it is one whole freakin big plate of meat each...and we ordered 6 plates of that...beef, pork, bacon, chicken, turkey...den we realise other tables only have like 1 or 2 plates each...really singaporean style...not only that we ordered 3 mixed seafood plates, several side orders and juz kept refilling our drinks...until the waitress even came over and ask us where we come from coz our accent very different...only den we realise the whole crew of waiters and waitresses have been taking second looks at us and talking about us...hahaha...they muz be damn shock that we can actually eat so much...like hungry ghosts feasting away...but we dun care loh...really eat and drink until song...this should be the whole idea of Taipei anyway mah...heh
3 hungry ghosts in the midst of feasting
the steamboat and some of the "liao" inside
calling for half time!!
cherry tomatoes served as dessert...
plus icecream and coffee...considered quite high class for a steamboat restaurant liao
ok almost there liao...need to call for full time soon
the day 4 singaporeans came and broke the record
took the MRT to Taipei Main Station after lunch...one thing i have noticed and find it very puzzled in my 2nd day here so far...is the fact that at the MRT stations...people will like automatically keep left here...many times we were caught out of place becoz we forgot to keep left...with like nobody telling them to do so...the Taiwanese really very zhi dong in that sense...but the funny thing is they drive like another person on the roads...the millions of scooters symbolic with taiwanese roads would juz whizz by in front of you when u r walking on the pavement at a relatively high speed...and the drivers here also dun give way one juz cut u when u crossing the road...and some dun even wait for u to walk when the green man is actually on...so funny rite...why they behave so differently when taking the MRT and driving...aiyah singaporeans even worse...both aspects also CMI...
from Taipei station took the train as in the big one, huo zhe not the MRT which they call Jie Yun (rapid transit)...10 minutes ride to reach Song Shan where wu feng pu is...not bad quite a lot of street wear in this district at reasonable prices...is like Bugis Village lah but much bigger, less hotter and more variety...hang ard for a while and manage to get a shirt for Pa...den Ken and I went off first as Kerine and JK decided to shop ard longer...
went to Zhong Shan district at nite which was once the commerical center of Taipei but now functions mainly as a modern shopping district...walk around the district and its nearby night markets...almost all the night markets are similar in the sense that they sell mainly those common flea market items like imitation watches, handbags, belts and so on, T-shirts, pirated CDs...and of coz Taiwanese produce and the must-eat street stall snacks...haven't go to the most famous and popular of all night markets - Shilin...guess maybe tml or the day after bah...confirm muz try the hao da chi pa...and the oyster mian xian...the authentic Taiwanese version one...heh...
in the taipei huo zhe with kerrine...wah the seats very comfortable one and lots of leg room...
at the song shan train station
wu feng pu garment district...eh how come this fella come and "qiang jing tou"??
the wu feng pu is actually quite near Taipei 101
bought this shirt for Pa from Wu Feng Pu
