Day 92 (Mon) *Taipei Day 3*
spooky!! haunted!! eerie!!hair-raising!! spine chilling!!
i'm talking about our hostel anyway...weird things have been happening over the past 2 nites and it is finding hard to believe that it's juz a matter of mere coincidence...not when u r in Taipei in the middle of the lunar 7th month...not when the whole house juz makes u feel uneasy at times...with idols lying ard in the living room and even a suspicious looking straw doll on the TV set...eeehhhwww...we suspect it is a voodoo doll...we r not tyring to be mean here...the manager is a nice lady...but strange things are happening...
Incident 1: 2 nites ago...at ard 2 0r 3 am...JK was still surfing the net...i was abt to hit the bed while ken and kerrine were fast asleep...den all of a sudden ken awoke and jumped up from his sleep and started muttering in chinese "Jie Kuo" which means "Excuse Me" for my non-chinese friens...den JK asked him what he saw...he say he saw a lightning bolt flash across the window and started explaining to us the functions of a lightning detector strangely...after done with his explaining he hit back his pillow and went back to sleep...the next morning we asked him what he saw last nite and he told us he can't remem that he woke up and confirmed cannot be him that said all those stuff...yah thinking back me and JK realised it didn't sound like ken's voice when he said "Jie Kuo"...sounded like a taiwanese uncle in fact...and all the more it won't come from this english potato like him...he don't normally speak mandarin and if he do...it is broken mandarin most of the time...haha...wah kaoz damn weird lah...a "good brother" trying to "Jie Kuo" issit...eeeeerrhhh...
Incident 2: Ok this happened to me juz directly...last nite at ard 3 or 4am according to JK who is sleeping on top of me...he felt a sudden and violent movement of the bed...and when he look down from where he was...saw me with my pillow on my head...and juz jerking violently...like i was having some spasm of sort...apparently it is not those normal sort of bed movement but it was so violent until it woke him up and it continued like for half an hour or so...yah den this morning i realised i did wanna wake up last nite but could not as though something pressing on me...i know there is a scientific term for this like ur mind waking up faster den ur body...or some ah mahs or ah sohs prefer to call as "gui ya sheng" or ghost pressing on ur body...but i seriously hardly if not never experience this before in s'pore...and also i cannot even feel myself jerking the bed lah...my back or neck also not sore when i woke up this morning...beats me really...
yah all the creepy jeekys aside...or rather juz a case of don't-bother-u-and don't-come-bother-me...today is a rather fruitful day in Taipei...aft breakfast we head to Taipei Main Station where we plan on going to Yang Ming Shan National Park...firstly to see first hand the famed natural green lushes of Taiwan...fill our lungs with fresh mountain air and of coz soak in the hot springs which Taiwan is famous for...and we didn't expect we got more than we wanted...haha...
we reached the National Park by taking a public bus up the winding mountain roads all the way to the terminal...andden all of sudden the skys opened up...it rained for quite a while...me and Kerrine took shelter at the underpass while Ken and JK went up to the visitor center a 20 minute trek up in the rain...pity them all drenched and tiring upslope trek...we den took a shuttle bus all the way up to the peak of the mountain and to where the free hot springs are located...10 stops away...luck not on our side today as when we went juz nice the springs closed for cleaning...so we decided not to wait and look for the nearest hot springs...we took a few pics here and there and decided to go to the tourist information center nearby to ask for directions...
den met this super friendly ranger uncle...brought us around the area...showed us some of the volcanic craters and rare Taiwanese plants...and juz started chatting about Taiwan and Singapore...apparently he is a retired civil servant and chose to be a park ranger because he can "you shan wan shui na xin shui"...haha...very carefree and relaxed...which job can boast of such beautiful and scenic surroundings as ur office...if got chance i also wanna retire like that lah...

bade farewell to the friendly ranger uncle...den took a mini bus to bei tou where he recommended us the hot springs...wah kaoz almost threw up on the way down...my head was juz spinning all around...and not juz me the rest also felt the same...closed my eyes halfway down becoz really can't take it...juz going round and round like musik express at ML...lucky never throw up if not damn paiseh to see my you tiao again...had lunch at a small eatery before we head to the hot springs where the uncle recommended...
wah really am eye opener...the temperature seriously damn hot lah...and i am talking about the least hot one...went to try the very hot one on top and u know what...put in my right leg only and i withdrew it the moment my feet came into contact...the water can boil egg one loh!! how the aunties and uncles take it is really beyond my comprehension...den one old uncle taught us the correct method of pao weng quan...go to hot for 5 minutes den cold...repeat 4-5 cycles and den will do...one word of advice from him though...youngsters cannot do it too often as it may affect the reproduction system...haha...JK's face changed upon hearing that...no wonder all ah mahs and ah gongs ard...LOL
after feelin satisfied soaking in the springs...we decided it's time to leave...took the MRT and went to Dan Shui looking for some cheap seafood...didn't have it in the end though and spent our time shopping ard and havin roadside snack foods...hang ard for about 2 hours or so before deciding to call it a day and go back and rest...i would say a fairly eventful day in Taipei...

outside the hot springs where we went...seriously and eye opener
even the mayor came down here to pao before
arriving at dan shui station...wah hair so messy...forgot to bring gel
